A low-pile rug you can put in a machine, which matters more in a rental than any pattern choice. The pick when the carpet underneath is not yours to ruin.

Why this one works in a rental
- Machine washable, so a spilled drink is not a claim on someone else’s carpet
- Non-slip backing, so it stays put on existing carpet and hard floor without a separate pad
- 5×7 is the size that seats a sofa on the rug without swallowing a small living room
Measure before you buy. For a living room, the front legs of the sofa belong on the rug, not the whole sofa.
